The American military says it will resume its naval blockade on Iran starting tomorrow late at night local time, on the orders of US President Donald Trump.
In a statement, the US Central Command says its forces “will resume blockading maritime traffic entering and exiting Iranian ports on July 14 at 4 p.m. ET” (11 p.m. Israel time and 11:30 p.m. Iran time).
“CENTCOM forces will enforce the blockade against vessels transiting to or from Iranian ports and coastal areas,” the statement continues.
The US military says it will continue to enable traffic through the Strait of Hormuz and other waters “for all vessels not violating the blockade.”
Shipping through the narrow mouth of the Persian Gulf has been disrupted since the start of the war as Iran has maintained a chokehold on it by attacking commercial vessels around it, intimidating shippers.
The US previously maintained a naval blockade against Iran during much of the war’s early months, between April 13 and June 18.
