Weather in Tel Aviv breaks city’s record for hottest April day, surpassing previous high recorded in 1939

Temperatures in Tel Aviv broke an 85-year-old record for the month of April a short while ago, the Israel Meteorological Services says, as the country is engulfed in a heatwave for the second day.

Shortly after midday, temperatures in the coastal city reached a high of 40.7°C (105.3°F), breaking the previous record of 40.4°C (104.7°F) in 1939.
