Boy, 12, killed in Jerusalem apartment fire
Paramedics also treat a 49-year-old man who was lightly injured by smoke inhalation; police investigators trying to determine cause of blaze

A 12-year-old boy was killed and a man was lightly injured in a fire that broke out late Tuesday in Jerusalem, police and medics said.
The fire erupted in a 4th-floor apartment building on Daniel Street in the city center.
“When we reached the road we saw flames and smoke coming out of the top story,” said Magen David Adom medic Oren Bril.
Bril said that after the fire department extinguished the flames, medics went in and found the boy. “He showed no signs of life and we were forced to declare him dead,” he said.
A 49-year-old man who was lightly injured by smoke inhalation was taken to hospital in a stable condition for further treatment, he said.
The cause of the blaze was not immediately clear and police and forensic investigators were on their way to the scene to try and determine the source of the fire.
