Coronavirus aid shipment from UAE arrives in Gaza

A United Arab Emirates coronavirus aid shipment to the Gaza Strip arrived today through the Rafah crossing with Egypt, Hamas media announces.

In a press conference, Gaza-based Fatah legislator Ashraf Juma’a thanks the United Arab Emirates for sending coronavirus aid to the coastal enclave. Relations between Abu Dhabi and Palestinian factions have been strained in recent months due to the UAE’s embrace of normalization with Israel.

“The medical supplies which arrived from the Emirates are important for Gaza. We thank the Emirates for its support and answering [our call for help] and we hope for further aid shipments, due to their importance,” Juma’a says.

According to the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the shipment contains 14.4 metric tons of medical supplies and testing kits.
