Mount Hermon in the north of the country received the first snowfall of the season overnight Wednesday, as a series of winter storms drenched Israel and raised the water level in the Sea of Galilee by 1.5 centimeters.

Channel 10 reported that on Wednesday Mount Hermon was crusted by a “thin layer of white” and that the temperature on the peak remained at 0° Celsius during the morning.

The week’s stormy, wet weather is expected to continue through Wednesday night and Thursday, especially in central and northern Israel. The recent storm reached as far south as Beersheba and Arad, both of which have seen sporadic rainfall since Monday.
