Is Yair Lapid ready for politics?
Journalist Yair Lapid has just entered the political fray to challenge Netanyahu, Livni et al for a shot at the premiership. Do you think this media celebrity has what it takes?

Yair Lapid, the son of former Shinui party head Tommy Lapid, has announced that he will run for the Knesset, raising the banner of Israel’s beleaguered middle class.
In a recent piece in the Israel Hayom daily, Dan Margalit argues that Lapid has entered the political arena too early and will grow tired by the time Election Day rolls around, perhaps in a year or so. Margalit also predicts that Lapid’s “disarming smile” won’t distract the public from his silence thus far on contentious issues such as West Bank checkpoints in Judea and Samaria and a military operation in Gaza.
What do you think? Is Lapid all about boyish good looks and spotless yichus, or are we about to discover that there’s more than meets the eye? Join the debate in the comments below.
