Abbas says he’ll drop ICC case against Israel if talks restarted
Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas says that despite the PA’s wish to join the International Criminal Court at the Hague, the PA has no intention of pressing charges against Israeli officials if Israel agrees to return to peace talks in the coming weeks.
Abbas makes the comments during a meeting with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi in Cairo, according to Lebanese paper Al Akhbar.
The report says Middle East Quartet envoy Tony Blair had previously voiced to Sisi international concern over the Palestinians turning to the ICC and the repercussions of an Israeli response to such moves.
