Amid Haredi threats to bolt coalition, PM expected to head to Knesset after trial hearing

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will go straight from his criminal trial to the Knesset to pressure Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee chairman Yuli Edelstein to present a draft of his Haredi military draft exemption legislation today.
According to Channel 12, Edelstein has said he will present the bill but it is expected to contain changes that the ultra-Orthodox parties will object to.
The United Torah Judaism party’s Degel Hatorah faction is threatening to withdraw from Netanyahu’s ruling coalition within the day unless it is presented with a draft of a bill exempting yeshiva students from military service.
Hebrew media reports that Shas is also threatening to bolt the coalition unless presented with the long-delayed compromise bill.
