Gilad Erdan, Israel’s envoy to the US and the UN, is not part of Yair Lapid’s visit to Washington this week, and did not greet the foreign minister at the airport as is the protocol.

He is currently on a work trip to Chicago and Indianapolis that has been scheduled for some time, his spokeswoman told The Times of Israel.

Part of the trip is a meeting with Indiana governor Eric Holcombe. Erdan’s trip was planned in coordination with the Foreign Ministry, she stressed.
