Speaking at the ceremony marking the entry of a new Shin Bet chief into office, Prime Minister Naftali Bennett says the security service must remain one step ahead of Israel’s enemies.
“We are facing a huge terrorism machine that does not rest for a moment. Wherever they are — we must be there, one step ahead of them,” says Bennett.
Ignoring the problem and allowing terror groups to gain a foothold “is not an option,” says Bennett. “Allowing the enemy to get stronger and the terror groups to turn into terror states with an army and tens of thousands of rockets — is not an option. We know our enemies and learned that when dealing with terror groups, the path to quiet and stability is first of all control in the field, excellent intelligence, thwarting [attacks], and deterrence.”
Bennett says the security agency’s aims for “results that do not leave any room for interpretation, that strip our enemies of the desire to try [and harm us].”
