Detention extended for off-duty cop arrested for stabbing his daughter’s ex

A judge has ordered six more days of detention for a policeman arrested on suspicion of stabbing his daughter’s ex-boyfriend, the State Attorney’s Office says.

The off-duty cop allegedly took a knife to the younger man who arrived at his home in Netanya yesterday, seriously injuring him. The officer’s three children were also reportedly present during the incident, which police described as a brawl caused by a “family dispute.”

Detectives in the Department of Internal Police Investigations (DIPI) interrogated the officer last night on suspicion of attempted murder.

He was brought to the Rishon Lezion Magistrate’s Court today, where a judge ruled to keep him in custody. The incident is being probed by DIPI investigators alongside police, due to the existence of additional suspects in the case.
