For what it says is the first time in its history, Israel’s most-watched television station, Channel 12, announces that it is evacuating its studio at Neve Ilan outside Jerusalem in mid-broadcast, on the orders of the Fire and Rescue Services.

The fire service has just ordered the evacuation of the Neve Ilan area amid the huge ongoing fires in the area.

Channel 12 news anchor Danny Kushmaro announces the “unprecedented” evacuation of the studio, on air, a few minutes into the evening’s news broadcast, and hands over to his colleague in the channel’s “alternative studio” in Herzliya.

“We’re stopping the broadcast [from here] in order to get out safely,” Kushmaro says.
