German foreign minister: Onus is on Putin to get peace in Ukraine
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GoogleIntense diplomatic efforts are underway to reach an end to the war in Ukraine, German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul says, adding, however, that the onus was on Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“To bring about peace, it depends on no one other than Putin. He started this war. He must now end it. If he wants peace, he must finally show a willingness to negotiate. We, Ukraine, Europe and the US, are ready. Putin must now decide,” says Wadephul at a press conference with his Jordanian counterpart.
He adds that diplomats were working flat out and that an unofficial EU Foreign Affairs Council meeting would take place on Wednesday.
