Haredi candidate will run for Jerusalem mayor, after clinching rabbis’ support

Deputy Jerusalem Mayor Yossi Deitch announces he’ll run for mayor in the October elections, after receiving the backing of ultra-Orthodox rabbis of the Agudath Yisrael faction.

Deitch is the first Haredi candidate in the race.

Earlier in the day, Netanyahu endorsed Likud Minister Ze’ev Elkin for mayor of Jerusalem. Also running is Moshe Lion, Kulanu MK Rachel Azaria, Hitorerut candidate Ofer Berkovitch, and more.
