IDF says it struck Hezbollah weapons depot after Lebanese army failed to dismantle it

The IDF says it struck an underground site in Lebanon that was being used by Hezbollah to store weapons.

In a statement, the military says that it had struck the same site about a week ago, and warned the Lebanese army about Hezbollah activity at the location.

According to the IDF, Lebanese soldiers visited the site but did not completely dismantle the infrastructure, leading Israel to strike the site again today. The IDF said it issued an advance warning of the strike to reduce any harm to civilians.

Beirut declared last week that it had completed the disarmament of Hezbollah south of the Litani River, a claim that Israel has poured cold water on.

The IDF statement came a short while after the military said separately that it had struck a Hezbollah operative in the area of Bint Jbeil in southern Lebanon.

The military did not immediately provide further details on the target or the outcome of that strike.

Photos circulating on social media show what appears to be a vehicle that was hit in the attack, with the car seen engulfed in flames.
