The IDF says it is investigating after an airstrike targeting a Hezbollah operative in southern Lebanon earlier today also killed several civilians.
According to the military, the strike in Bint Jbeil killed a member of the Lebanese terror group who was “operating in the area of a civilian population and contrary to the understandings between Israel and Lebanon.”
As a result of the strike, “several uninvolved [civilians] were killed,” the military confirms.
Lebanese media reported that the strike had hit a motorcycle and a car. In the car, a father and his three children were killed. The motorcyclist, the apparent target, was also killed.
“The IDF regrets any harm to uninvolved [civilians], and works as much as possible to mitigate harm to them,” the IDF says, adding that “the incident is being investigated.”
