IDF says working to improve accuracy of early warning system for Iranian missiles

The IDF Home Front Command says it is working on making its early warning system for Iran’s ballistic missile attacks more accurate.

The early warning is issued shortly after the IDF detects a missile launch from Iran, though at that stage it is hard to predict exactly where it will land, and therefore the pre-alert usually applies to a wide area. Sirens generally sound in a more limited area; by that point, the missile’s trajectory is clearer.

Following work over the past two weeks amid the war, the Home Front Command is set to issue early warnings in smaller areas before sirens sound.

This means fewer civilians will have a situation where they receive an early warning and no sirens sound in their town.

The Home Front Command aims to reduce the number of civilians who face this issue by 30-50%.
