Iran says talks with US to focus only on nuclear issue, nuclear watchdog head Grossi to join

The third round of talks between Iran and the United States, which began this morning in Geneva, will focus solely on Tehran’s nuclear program and the lifting of US sanctions on Iran, Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman says.
“The subject of the negotiations… is focused on the nuclear issue,” says Esmaeil Baqaei, adding that Tehran will push for lifting sanctions and asserting Iran’s right “to peaceful use of nuclear energy.”
He adds that Iran’s delegation has relayed these views to the Omani foreign minister mediating the talks.
The US has repeatedly pressed for the talks to also address Iran’s ballistic missile program and its support for regional terror proxies.
Baqaei also says United Nations nuclear chief Rafael Grossi will likely attend the talks today.
