Israel keeps Allenby Crossing shut after Jordan says terminal reopening
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GoogleIsrael’s Airports Authority says the Allenby Crossing is remaining closed, after Amman had announced that the sole gateway between the West Bank and Jordan was being opened to non-cargo traffic three days after a deadly attack there.
Israel says the closure is being made in coordination with Jordanian and Palestinian authorities.
Jordan, which earlier said the crossing was reopening to passenger traffic, says the terminal was suddenly closed by Israeli authorities, with those there being forced to turn back.
Israel shut the crossing on Friday, a day after a truck driver carrying Gaza-bound humanitarian aid opened fire and killed two Israeli military personnel there.
