Leader of the Opposition Yair Lapid calls on President Isaac Herzog not to participate in the upcoming opening of the Knesset’s winter session if Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana does not invite Supreme Court President Isaac Amit to the ceremony, in his capacity as head of the judiciary.

Ohana acknowledged this evening that Amit, as well as the attorney general, were deliberately excluded from the ceremony on Friday in which US President Donald Trump addressed the Knesset.

“Yesterday, there were rare moments of non-partisan behavior and unity of the nation, and already the coalition is returning to quarrels and division,” says Lapid.

“I call on Amir Ohana: Give this nation an opportunity for the common good, invite the president of the Supreme Court to the opening ceremony of the Knesset in his official title and position,” he adds, while calling on Herzog to boycott the event if Ohana fails to do so.
