Foreign Minister Yair Lapid participates in a situational assessment this morning in the Foreign Ministry and instructs diplomats to focus on assisting Israeli citizens waiting in line at border crossings out of Ukraine, and on providing Ukraine with the humanitarian assistance it has requested.
Mashav, Israel’s international development agency, is preparing the humanitarian aid, which will be flown to Ukraine later this week.
Since the beginning of the invasion on Thursday, 2,000 Israelis have left Ukraine, according to the ministry’s latest figures.
Israel is now recommending that Israelis trying to leave Ukraine head for the Slovakian, Hungarian, Moldovan, and Romanian borders, since the Polish crossings are overcrowded.
