Lawyers for Qatargate suspect Urich say he plans to return to work at Prime Minister’s Office

Lawyers for Qatargate suspect Jonatan Urich reportedly say their client should be permitted to meet with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and return to work at the Prime Minister’s Office now that restrictions placed on the top aide to the premier have expired.
Yesterday, the Israel Police handed its investigation into the Qatargate scandal over to the State Attorney’s Office, saying it has completed the probe and recommending continued sanctions against Urich. However, the restrictive conditions on Urich have now expired.
According to Channel 13 news, Urich’s lawyers, Amit Hadad and Noa Milstein — who also represent the prime minister — say there is now no reason that a meeting between the two cannot take place.
Channel 12 news and the Kan public broadcaster say the lawyers informed police that Urich now intends to return to work at the PMO as soon as possible.
Urich is accused of taking money to spearhead a public relations campaign to cast Qatar in a positive light for over a year after the October 7, 2023, Hamas attacks on Israel, despite the Gulf state’s strong ties to the terror group, and doing so while working in the Prime Minister’s Office.
Urich is suspected of contact with a foreign agent, bribery, fraud, breach of trust and money laundering in connection with the ongoing probe.
