Liberman: Haredi draft exemption bill would be a ‘betrayal of soldiers’

“Israel can end the war on three conditions,” says Yisrael Beytenu chair Avigdor Liberman ahead of a faction meeting. “The release of all 50 hostages, keeping a kilometer perimeter [buffer zone around the Strip], and retaining freedom of military movement to prevent Hamas from regrouping.”
“We have to end the war,” he emphasizes.
Regarding the government’s proposed Haredi draft exemption bill, which Leberman fiercely opposes, the party chair says he doesn’t know if it will pass but says that the government doesn’t understand the widespread outrage that its passing would elicit across Israeli society.
“It’s a betrayal of soldiers – there’s no other way to describe it,” he says. “All decisions made by this government are political.”
Asked about the decision of Attorney General Galia Baharav-Miara not to attend the controversial hearing today regarding her dismissal, he says that it is not a real committee. “She’s absolutely right – what should she go for? Everyone on that committee has already made their decision.”
