Miriam Naor now Israel’s new chief justice
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GoogleIncoming Supreme Court Chief Justice is sworn in at the President’s Residence in Jerusalem with President Reuven Rivlin and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu attending. Also at the ceremony are outgoing chief justice Asher Grunis, opposition leader Isaac Herzog, Attorney-General Yehuda Weinstein, past justices and others.
Naor praised Grunis and said his years as chief justice were years when the court “flourished.”
“As a justice, president Grunis dealt with all matters pertaining to the court and in all matters he penned important verdicts. In his rulings he emphasized the need to act with restraint when examining the constitutionality of Knesset legislation,” says Naor.
