New Jewish Home candidate stakes anti-gay stand

Yehudit Shilat, who stands a realistic chance of becoming a Knesset member for the Jewish Home party, says “there is no such thing” as same-sex marriage, Haaretz reports.

Last year Shilat said in a radio interview that “legislation for the benefit of homosexuals, that is pushing a gay-lesbian agenda through legislation, creates a public discourse that changes the social climate… and makes gay and lesbian ideas a progressive and legitimate phenomenon.”

Shilat, a Jerusalem resident, is the third woman elected in the Jewish Home primary held on Wednesday. She is currently placed 12th on the party list, in a position reserved for a female MK.
