Nigerian leader visits Boko Haram stronghold
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GoogleNigerian President Goodluck Jonathan makes an appearance in the northeastern part of Nigeria, the epicenter of Boko Haram violence, for the first time in two years. The visit seemed to be part of an election campaign.
An AFP reporter at the scene says Jonathan arrived in Maiduguri, the capital of the Borno province and the historic stronghold of Boko Haram, accompanied by Nigerian army Chief of Staff Alex Badeh and escorted by about 200 soldiers.
