Report: Police have found no evidence AG involved in Sde Teiman leak scandal

Police sources tell Haaretz no evidence has been found on the phone of former military advocate general Yifat Tomer-Yerushalmi to indicate that Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara had any knowledge of or involvement in the former’s actions now under investigation.

Tomer-Yerushalmi is accused of leaking of a videos from the Sde Teiman holding facility in 2024 showing the alleged abuse of a prisoner, and of then covering up her actions and impeding the investigation into the leak. Her phone was found in the sea on November 7, days after she was found at a Tel Aviv beach after going missing for hour, amid fears she would take her own life. This led to suspicions that Tomer-Yerushalmi had been trying to rid herself of the device due to possible incriminating evidence found on it. Data from the phone has since been extracted.

Many political figures on the right have accused Baharav-Miara of involvement in the Sde Teiman leak, due to her role in overseeing Tomer-Yerushalmi as she carried out an allegedly fraudulent previous investigation into the affair. Baharav-Miara has been forced to recuse herself from the matter, and Justice Minister Yariv Levin is currently seeking to appoint an outside investigator to oversee the probe, though a legal battle on the identity of the overseer is ongoing.
