Rivlin tells residents of north to remain calm, says IDF ‘ready to respond’

President Reuven Rivlin tells the residents of northern Israel they should remain “calm” after the IDF said it discovered tunnels infiltrating Israeli territory from Lebanon and launched an operation to destroy them.

“I’m telling the citizens of Israel, and in particular the residents of the north, that you can be calm and confidant,” he posts on Twitter. “Your security is our top priority.”

“The entirety the IDF is ready to respond, and the current operation proves the importance of the military’s preparedness for any scenario forces upon us,” he says. “We know that we have someone we can trust.”
