Sa’ar’s Somaliland visit an ‘unauthorized incursion,’ Somalia says

Somalia condemns today’s visit by Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar to Somaliland, labeling it an “unauthorized incursion,” less than two weeks after Israel officially recognized the breakaway region, which has had an independent government for 34 years.

“Somalia condemns in the strongest terms the unauthorized incursion by the Israeli Minister of Foreign Affairs into Hargeisa,” the region’s capital, the Somali foreign ministry says in a statement, adding that such a visit without the “explicit consent and authorization of the Federal Government of Somalia is illegal, null and void.”
