Security officials warned cabinet ministers in recent days that Hamas has asserted almost total control over parts of Gaza it rules, according to a Channel 13 news report.

The network says ministers were told that 13 of 25 Hamas-controlled municipalities have resumed full operations, police are again manning checkpoints and the terror group is working to repair damaged infrastructure and improve its image among Palestinians.

Senior IDF officers are quoted in the report as calling for Israel to develop its own plans to demilitarize Gaza, saying the US proposal for doing so is insufficient.
