Syria’s Islamist-led government vows to “protect all components” of society, including the Druze minority, following sectarian clashes with its loyalists that killed about 40 people in two days.

Syria “affirms its unwavering commitment to protect all components of the Syrian people… including the children of the honorable Druze community,” the foreign ministry says in a statement, also expressing its rejection of “foreign interference.”

Earlier, Israel warned it could take military action against the regime if attacks on Druze continue.
