Syrian security forces have deployed near Damascus to “restore security,” state media reports, following deadly sectarian clashes between government forces and local Druze fighters.

Security official Hussam al-Tahan tells state news agency SANA that forces completed a “security operation” in the Sahnaya area and that General Security personnel deployed there to “restore security and stability.”

Earlier, Israel warned it could strike government sites if attacks on the Druze community, which has ties to Israeli Druze, continue.
