Hebrew-language reports identify a speech delivered by former MK Hanin Zoabi in Vienna, Austria, in early October 2024 as having sparked her detention this morning on suspicion of incitement to terror.
In a video of the address to the Palestina Kongress, she is heard seemingly justifying the October 7, 2023, assault, and expressing solidarity with the Hamas terror group that led the deadliest attack on Jews since the Holocaust.
“It is not Hamas who is resisting, it isn’t the Palestinian people, you cannot differentiate between Hamas and the Palestinian people,” Zoabi says. “Don’t tell me about October 7.”
Noting that many in Gaza are descendants of Palestinian refugees, she adds, “On October 7, they didn’t enter Israeli borders, they entered their own land,” drawing applause.
Among other subjects, Zoabi also talks about support for changing European attitudes to stop backing Israel due to the Holocaust, and the importance of drafting anti-Zionist Jews as part of that struggle.
