A suspected terrorist was “neutralized” on Saturday after an attempted stabbing attack at the entrance of Kibbutz Metzer in northern Israel, the police said in a statement.

According to the statement, a man exited the kibbutz from its front gate with his car, where he noticed the suspect standing in front of him.

Finding the suspect’s appearance suspicious, the man alerted the kibbutz security coordinator and called him to the scene.

The suspect then drew a knife and seemed to be attempting a stabbing attack, causing the security coordinator to shoot and “neutralize” him.

According to the police, the assailant was a 24-year-old man from  Tulkarem in the West Bank.

After being shot, he was arrested and taken for joint interrogations with the Shin Bet security service, the police said, without specifying his condition.

Police continued scanning the area for other potential suspects for about two hours before calling off the search.

Kibbutz Metzer is situated near the Green Line, approximately 20 kilometers (12.4 miles) north of Tulkarem.
