The head of the IDF and other senior officers met with the heads of local governments in the Gaza border region, amid repeated rocket and mortar attacks by terrorist groups from the coastal enclave.
IDF chief Gadi Eisenkot, the head of the IDF Southern Command Maj. Gen. Eyal Zamir, and the head of the Gaza Division Brig. Gen. Yehuda Fuchs met with the heads of the Eshkol, Sdot Negev, Sha’ar Hanegev, and Hof Ashkelon regions, the army says.
“During the meeting, the commanders updated the local government officials about the army’s assessments of the situation and they spoke about the preparedness of the communities and the civilian home front,” the army says in a statement.
“The chief of staff expressed his great appreciation for their leadership and the civil resilience being shown by the leaders and the citizens of the Gaza region,” the army says.
