Cellphone giant Pelephone signs a non-binding agreement to buy rival Hot Telecom for NIS 2.1 billion ($652 million) from billionaire Patrick Drahi’s Altice International, Pelephone’s parent company Bezeq says in a regulatory filing.

Bezeq’s Pelephone mobile phone unit says a binding agreement for the deal will be subject to approval by Israel’s Communications Ministry and the Israel Competition Authority.

Pelephone has around 2.6 million customers, of whom over 1.5 million are 5G package subscribers.
