The chairman of the Magen David Adom ambulance service’s fundraising arm in Ireland accuses the National Concert Hall in Dublin of canceling an event that the group was set to hold there on May 11.

The event was set to feature accounts, delivered by actors, from survivors and first responders from the Hamas-led onslaught of October 7, 2023, Magen David Adom says.

“The cancellation by the National Concert Hall of MDA Ireland’s scheduled private fund raising event can be properly described as an act of antisemitic censorship,” Alan Shatter says in a statement, adding that the move by the publicly funded institution would add to the “escalating global perception of Ireland as one of the most antisemitic countries in Europe.”

According to Shatter, MDA Ireland started coordinating with the venue in November, finalized the date in early February, “and since then the NCH have canceled it, reinstated it and canceled it again, each cancellation having a spurious basis.”

The National Concert Hall does not immediately respond to a request for comment.
