Search continues for missing phone of military advocate general

A search is continuing this morning at Hatzuk Beach in Tel Aviv for the phone of the former military advocate general, which police reportedly suspect her of intentionally tossing into the sea when she briefly disappeared Sunday. At the time she was feared to have harmed herself due to the ongoing investigation into her actions in the Sde Teiman affair.

Yifat Tomer-Yerushalmi was found alive but her phone was not located. She is reported to have told investigators she does not remember what she did with it.

Police suspect she may have been attempting to destroy incriminating evidence in the case.

Tomer-Yerushalmi has admitted to authorizing the leak of a video in mid-2024 showing the alleged abuse of a Palestinian prisoner at the Sde Teiman holding facility. She and others in her office are suspected of then repeatedly lying about the leak and obstructing the investigation into it.
