Shin Bet head David Zini announces that “Nun,” identified only by his first initial in Hebrew, has been appointed as the agency’s next deputy head, in a move approved by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and set to take effect in the coming month, Hebrew media reports.
The internal security service says Nun began his career in the organization as a coordinator in the Southern District and went on to serve in a range of operational and headquarters roles. After leaving the Shin Bet, he held several senior positions in Israel’s security and public sectors.
He is set to replace the current deputy director, Shin, who is stepping down after some 30 years of service in the security agency.
Channel 12 news previously reported that the resignation came due to serious and frequent differences of opinion between Zini and Shin.
