Woman charged with attempted murder for stabbing mother in Ra’anana apartment

Prosecutors charge a woman with attempted murder after she allegedly stabbed her 64-year-old mother several times earlier this month.

Shabnam Taklifi, a 27-year-old who lives with her parents in their Ra’anana apartment, left her mother with life-threatening injuries, stabbing her over 10 times in their living room on November 3, prosecutors say, without expanding on her suspected motives.

The victim remains hospitalized, sedated and on a ventilator with severe wounds in her chest, stomach and legs.

According to the indictment, Taklifi was stopped mid-assault by two passersby, who heard screams coming from inside the apartment and turned to see her through the window, stabbing her mother.

The two bystanders broke into the apartment through a window and shouted at the defendant to drop the knife, to which she eventually agreed. She threw the knife onto the floor as her mother lay in a pool of blood on the ground, prosecutors write.

She is charged in the Central District Court with attempted murder and causing severe bodily harm under aggravated circumstances. Prosecutors are requesting she remain in detention until the end of legal proceedings against her.
