Zamir, Witkoff, and CENTCOM chief ‘conducted a field tour’ in Gaza, met with senior commanders, IDF says

The IDF issues a statement on Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir’s visit to the Gaza Strip today with US special envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff, CENTCOM chief Adm. Brad Cooper, and Jared Kushner, alongside other Israeli generals.

The military says Zamir and the US officials “conducted a field tour” in Gaza, and afterward visited a facility at the Re’im base where returning hostages will undergo initial health assessments following their release by Hamas.

Zamir and Cooper later held a meeting with senior IDF commanders, “during which they discussed the operational situation across the near and distant arenas and the IDF’s preparations along the updated lines in the Gaza Strip, in accordance with the framework of the ceasefire agreement and the return of the hostages,” the military says.

“As part of the ongoing coordination efforts, the IDF remains in continuous contact with the United States Central Command (CENTCOM) for the planning and implementation of the agreement, in a manner that ensures the continued security of the State of Israel,” the statement continues, adding that “this meeting serves as another reinforcement of the close, strategic and operational relationship between the IDF and the US military.”
