Elyakim Libman, 23, was working as a security guard at the Supernova desert rave on October 7, when Hamas terrorists launched an assault at the party, killing and kidnapping partygoers.

Elyakim, whose father is Eliyahu Libman, council chairman of the town of Kiryat Arba in the West Bank, immediately called his father on that Shabbat morning.

His father was in Safed for Shabbat, celebrating the holiday of Simchat Torah, but he immediately answered the phone.

In a post shared on Facebook, Eliyahu Libman said that Elyakim told him there were many terrorists in the area, and shared his location with his father, who said he was on his way.

The drive was harrowing, said Libman, who went with a friend. They passed the city of Sderot, still engaged in heavy battle, and saw dozens of dead bodies alongside the road.

At first, Libman stopped to check each body to see if it was his son, and then decided to head first to the location that Elyakim had sent.

They reached what had been the center of the party, found a tent piled high with more than 100 bodies and began checking bodies again. They stopped as night fell, and Libman had to tend to the rest of his family, to other sons and sons-in-law who were called up as well as his town of Kiryat Arba.

The next day, Libman made contact with another security guard, Moshe, who had survived and told him that the four security guards at the party first rescued injured partygoers under heavy gunfire, before trying to escape around 2 p.m. with 20 others.

They were about to hide when they saw two other badly injured women and Elyakim and his friend, Eitan Mor, went to help them.

One woman was already dead, but the other was still breathing and Elyakim and Mor wanted to hide her so that the terrorists would not take her captive.

The other guard, Moshe, begged them to save themselves, but they didn’t want to leave her. That was the last he saw of Elyakim and Eitan.

Elyakim’s father, Eliyahu Libman, has spoken publicly about his son being taken captive, as well as the need to fight and win the war with Hamas.

“We’re in a war but with God’s help, we will win,” said Eliyahu in a video posted on YouTube, a gun slung across his chest.

Libman said he doesn’t know where his son Elyakim is, but he trusts in God and the unity of the nation of Israel.
