IDF forces operating along the Gaza border Saturday night shot and killed an armed terrorist. The man was spotted “digging in the ground, suggesting he was attempting to plant an explosive device,” the IDF Spokesperson’s office said in a statement released Sunday.

His body was found with an AK-47 assault rifle during a search conducted Sunday morning.

Over the past week IDF forces found three explosive devices adjacent to the fence. All three were destroyed by controlled demolitions.

The IDF said in its release that such attempted attacks are “proof of how terror organizations use the area adjacent to the security fence” to plant bombs and try to carry out attacks and kidnappings, “endangering the citizens of Israel and the security forces operating in the area.”
