After an hour of calm, sirens again sound in southern Israel

Incoming rocket sirens blare in southern Israel’s Sha’ar Hanegev and Sdot Hanegev regions, following an hour of relative calm in the area, the army says.

The military says it is investigating what triggered the system, which sent residents rushing to bomb shelters.

Throughout the day, over 70 mortar shells and rockets were fired at southern Israel by terrorist groups in the Gaza Strip in both large salvoes and individual launches, the army says.

“Iranian-made rockets were among the munitions fired at Israel,” the army says in a statement.
