Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says his close personal relationship with US President Donald Trump, and the deep ties between the two countries, are “a recipe for the continuation of our series of achievements in 2026 as well,” during a so-called 40-signature debate in the Knesset.
He says that he and Trump have dealt extensively with attempts to bring back the body of the last hostage, Master Sgt. Ran Gvili, from the Gaza Strip.
Netanyahu says that he and Trump “will not allow Iran to rebuild its ballistic missile industry, and we certainly won’t let it renew its nuclear program.”
Their shared position, he says, is that there must be zero enrichment capability for Iran, that all of Iran’s enriched uranium must be sent outside of the country, and that there must be close oversight over its nuclear facilities.
“We in Israel identify with the struggle of the Iranian people,” he says, “and its aspirations for freedom and justice.”
Netanyahu says that Iran might have reached “a decisive moment, in which the Iranian people take their futures into their hands.”
