Israel reopens Erez crossing to Gaza after relative calm

Israel reopens the Erez border crossing in the Gaza Strip today, a week after shutting it over violence along the border with the Hamas-run coastal enclave.

A Defense Ministry spokesperson confirms it had opened as planned earlier this morning. The ministry earlier said the decision came “in light of the security calm that was upheld over the past week and the significantly reduced [number] of [violent] incidents.”
