PA says several aid trucks reached warehouses in northern Gaza on Thursday

The Palestinian Authority’s foreign ministry says that despite reports of a halt on aid deliveries in northern Gaza, several humanitarian aid trucks successfully reached warehouses in that area of the Strip.

The ministry doesn’t say which crossing the aid came from and when.

The boxes pictured in a tweet published by the ministry show the logo of an Emirati aid organization. Israel has made a point of ensuring that aid from the UAE is delivered into the Strip.

Earlier today, a UN spokesperson told The Times of Israel that its teams were barred by Israel from reaching the Zikim Crossing in northern Gaza in order to pick up assistance.

Yesterday, former prime minister Naftali Bennett published a tweet showing gunmen on top of an aid convoy in northern Gaza, claiming they were Hamas operatives. The clip sparked uproar, and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that he had directed the IDF to take steps within 48 hours to ensure that Hamas cannot steal aid. There were then reports that Israel had decided to block aid from entering the Strip in the interim, though those proved to be at least partially false after the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, which has been distributing about half of the aid entering Gaza over the past month, continued operations on Thursday.

Meanwhile, clan leaders in northern Gaza issued a statement insisting their members were the gunmen atop the aid trucks in Bennett’s tweet — not Hamas operatives — and that they were securing the convoy, not looting it.
