The chairman of the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee predicts US President Donald Trump will fail to extend the nuclear deal with Iran when it comes up for renewal in May.
Speaking to the CBS network’s “Face the Nation” on Sunday, Sen. Bob Corker, the outgoing Republican from Tennessee, says, “Right now, it doesn’t feel like it’s gonna be extended.
“I think the president likely — will move away from it, unless my — our European counterparts really come together on a framework. And it doesn’t feel to me that they are.”
Asked by interviewer Margaret Brennan whether he thought the president would pull out of the Iran deal on May 12, Corker replied, “I do. I do.”
His remarks echo those of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who told members of his cabinet a week ago that Trump would walk away from the deal in May, according to Channel 10.
