An explosion killed a 30-year-old man on a Beersheba street in the pre-dawn hours of Friday.

Magen David Adom emergency services said it responded to the sound of an explosion shortly after midnight.

Medics attempted to resuscitate the man, whose identity has not been determined, but were unsuccessful.

Medic Adir Nitan said, “I live next door, and immediately after I heard the explosion I ran to the scene. I saw a man around age 30 lying unconscious on the ground. He had suffered severe multi-systemic injury. We administered medical treatment but at the end were forced to declare him dead.”

Hebrew media reported that he had apparently been killed by a grenade that exploded in his hand.

The police collected evidence at the scene and opened an investigation into the incident.
