Due to a malfunction in the Home Front Command siren system, alert sirens sounded in numerous Israeli cities early Monday afternoon
Thousands of citizens phoned the police and the Home Front hotline to report on the sirens, all of which were false alarms, according to the IDF and police.
Sirens were heard in communities near the border with the Gaza Strip, as well as in the North of Israel.
According to media reports, citizens in Gan Yavne, Ashdod, Ashkelon, Beer Tuvia, Gadera, Afula, Kfar Vradim and the Galilee heard the false alarm sirens.
The reason for the malfunction is not yet clear.
